This weeks Window Walk gallery Highlighted Artist of the Week is Rose Marie S. Tornandizo
Rose Marie S. Tornandizo grew up in a family of Architects and Engineers in a the city of Dumaguete in Negros Oriental, Philippines. She watched as her father, Vicente Tornandizo, became a well known architect as he drew and built custom homes, churches, theaters, schools and cockfighting halls in her province.
Her favorite pastimes were browsing thru the magazine Architectural Digest, and painting florals and landscapes throughout her childhood.
She finished her Bachelor in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Finance, at Silliman University. She worked first as an Accountant and then in Real Estate in Manila for several years. Later she moved to Las Vegas where she built a successful real estate company, Sapphire Real Estate Inc. catering to high end and investor groups in the US and around the world.
Later, she attended the Harvard University Executive Class on Leadership. And she went to Lake Cuomo, Italy for an Impressionist Painting Class with Italian American Painter Jerry Fresia.
Rose Marie then moved to the Philippines and worked on government and private sector projects for 6 years and later moved back to the US in Las Vegas. She has travelled extensively around the world to China, Dubai, Canada, and Europe for interesting subjects to paint including a favorite spot the Butchart Gardens in British Columbia.
She is now settled in Indio, California where she has painted with the Riverside County Mental Health program.
When asked about her art Rose Marie said, “I derive inspiration from my environment and express it into my paintings. I wish to inspire more people to express themselves into art.”
