Artist of the Week - Elizabeth Bolden
This weeks Window Walk Gallery Highlighted Artist of the Week is Elizabeth Bolden!
“I was born in Seoul, Korea and was brought to the United States when I was 2 years old with my dad. I was an only child and he was in the Military so we moved around a lot. I grew up in the states, mainly in California. I graduated from Moreno Valley High School and went to a Los Angeles Tech School.
I think I had mental health issues since I was a child, but didn’t know it. I finally got help when I was 19 years old. I got treatment and went through a lot to get the help I needed for my recovery.
I only started painting when I got into Windy Springs Wellness Center and attended the “Expressive Recovery Art Therapy” group. With my teacher’s help, I grew and blossomed and then I was able to start selling some of my art at the annual “May is Mental Health Month” art exhibitions in Indio every year for the past few years.
Today I’m grateful to be part of the “Window Walk Art Gallery” exhibition at The River. I was one of the first artists to sell a piece of art when the Gallery opened. It was such a great feeling. Then a young boy from Ireland bought one of my paintings! I was so elated! It warmed my heart so much! I love creativity! It will always be a part of my life now.”
