This week our Window Walk Gallery Highlighted Artist of the Week is Tracy Lopez!
Tracy Lopez grew up in El Centro, CA but later moved to Thousand Palms, CA in 1998. Since then she has attended schools in the desert. While in high school the only art she ever created was in Ceramics class that she took for two years as an elective course. She graduated from high school in 2009 and continued her education part time at College of the Desert.
Tracy started painting with acrylic paints when she became a client of Desert Adult FSP now known as the Windy Springs Wellness Center. While attending the clinic she became a part of Expressive Recovery Art Group which she has been a part of for two years. This group helps her manage her mental health illnesses that range from anxiety to depression and makes her focus on the art project itself.
“I love participating in Expressive Recovery Art Group because I get to work alongside my peers. I get to see many different types of art work and they get to see mine. Being in this group has brought out my creative self and has shown me the way to many possibilities. I have tried many and my top two favorites are painting with acrylics and Diamond Art.”
“Participating in the window gallery has been an amazing experience. Every time I sell a painting it just reassures me and lets me know that I do have talent that I wasn’t aware of. It makes me want to create more. And knowing that other people enjoy my artwork makes me really happy.”
