Artist of the Week - Rose Butts
This week our Window Walk Gallery highlighted Artist of the Week is Rose Butts.
Rose Butts is 15, from a family of 4, as well as an aunt. She loves playing sports and doing art. Her favorite sports are basketball and volleyball. She has been playing basketball since she was 5 years old.
” I simply fell in love with it and the love for it grew as I grew. I would always watch the Los Angeles Lakers and I would get excited when Kobe Bryant played. When I heard of Kobe’s and his daughter Gigi’s death it just ruined my day, I wouldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for him supporting girls basketball and for my parents introducing me to basketball. His death makes me want to push harder and succeed in what I want to do.”
She has been playing volleyball for 1 year. Trying something new she realized she really likes playing and looks forward to playing more in the future.
“I really like doing art. I do all kinds, just to name a few, scratch art, drawing, painting and diamond art. “
When asked why she wanted to participate in the Window Walk Gallery she said,
“When I heard that there was an art gallery walk at the river benefiting mental health awareness I was automatically wanting to participate. I have participated in a couple other art shows for mental health awareness and I want people to know that we are all humans. No matter how people act or if someone has a condition we are all equal. We might be unique in our own way but at the end of the day we all have the same rights.”
